The Queen rocks the house! One of party said they just had the best fish sandwich they ever tasted. The combo platter I shared with Jerk and curry chicken was 5 stars of flavor! The sides were amazing- got the cabbage and spinach. Probably without a doubt the best Caribbean food we ever had for sure!
This is a great neighborhood spot and the staff are very friendly. Queen Lisa herself came to our table and shared her story and passion for food with my party. She has a heart of gold which is evident in the way she cooks. My partner is from the Caribbean and loved this meal— it is truly authentic. The spices are even sourced from the Caribbean to ensure consistent flavor. Our dishes were very vibrant without being overwhelming, which is a difficult balance to find. We ordered plantains, the oxtail special, jerk chicken, and curry chicken which were all delicious. Prices are very reasonable and it’s BYOB which all allow for an affordable meal out. I recommend this for a casual dinner or even for pick-up. There are also some outside picnic tables if you care to have your meal when the weather permits. Def recommend coming here and I hope you get the opportunity to speak with Lisa and experience her food.
Everything was delicious and the staff was friendly. I had fried swai. rice and peas and cabbage with plantain and sorrel. My husband had the curry and jerk chicken platter with rice and peas, plantain and sorrel. 10 out of 10 would highly recommend!
Best Jerk sauce in New Orleans. Served super hot, the fried fish is as good as fried fish get!! Magnificent. The seasoning on the fish n chips is irresistible. This dish makes this spot a legend. Her goat curry is a special treat. Heaps of food! The coconut water was extraordinaryily cold. the plantains were highly recommended and did not disappoint. The curry chicken was delicious. And the carry-home containers are not styrofoam!! We all await her stuffed roti, hint hint.
It’s an oasis on the tiny block of D’Hemecourt Street with hearty, delicious dishes and a generous owner. Our party debated whether to try the curry chicken, but in the end none of us ordered it. The owner, Lisa, stopped by our table and brought us a sample to taste. I’ll definitely get it next time. I was very satisfied with the BBQ jerk chicken (pictured below with rice & peas, plantains, and cabbage).
Absolutely stunning food! We had jerk chicken, curry chicken, and fried fish. They were all perfect. We will definitely be back!!
This is a small, casual, family-run restaurant on a quiet neighborhood street. The place is very clean. Service is friendly and attentive.
Came here because I found out Lisa won the Best Jerk Chicken Award, and was not disappointed. Had the jerk chicken/curry chicken combo with two sides and two plantains (sides and plantains come with entree), and it was delicious. Personally, I liked the jerk more but maybe because there's not many jerk option in Nola compared to places that sells curry, but it is still good overall.
The food was the BEST!!!!..Season so well....I'm visiting from Maryland but I'm definitely coming back just to come here. The owner even came out of the kitchen to ask us how was everything. An Amazing young lady. ❤️
